Daily ServicE

For students to take part in our daily community service program, they should meet in the Mission & Ministry Office on the appropriate day at 2:40 PM. The PREP provides ALL transportation, and all students will return to school in time for the 5:20 PM buses. If there are any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Sam Deitch in the Mission & Ministry office.


Gesu School

17th & Thompson Streets, Philadelphia, PA 19130


Prep students will spend time with the young students of the Gesu School through tutoring and mentoring activities. The program emphasizes academic excellence, character formation, religious faith and leadership motivation.


Empty Bowls Project

The art room on the 5th floor of Jesuit Hall


Prep students will spend time making bowls for the Empty Bowls project. These will be sold during the Hunger Banquet/Auction on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. The proceeds will go to support The SJP Hurtado Food Pantry.

St. Malachy School

At St. Malachy Catholic School, Prep students will engage in an after-school tutoring program to encourage academic excellence among the elementary-aged students.


Beckett Life Center

The Beckett Life Center provides a wonderful and unique opportunity for Prep students to participate in programs that promote Health, Wellness, and Youth Development.

St. Francis Inn

3:30-6:30 p.m.

Students will serve meals at St. Francis Inn to the hungry alongside volunteers from other schools. Students will return to the Prep at 6:30 p.m. and can be dropped off at the train station, drive home individually, or be picked up.

Old First Reformed UCC - Bethesda Project Homeless Shelter

151 N 4th St, Philadelphia, PA 19106

Prep student and staff volunteers will serve and support those in need by preparing a meal for the guests of the shelter, serving and eating alongside them, and assisting in clean up. These dinners are a great way to build community by showing care, love and respect for the guests of the Bethesda Shelter (N.B. the maximum group size for this service opportunity is 12 volunteers).
