2016-2017 SEASON RE-CAP
Under the fine tutelage of Coach Robert Whitehouse, the Prep Squash Team practiced and played at the historic and prestigious Philadelphia Racquet Club in Center City. Against elite programs like Penn Charter, Tower Hill and St. Augustine's (South Jersey), the team fought competitively in each match. Led by captain Tommy Prim, the team capped its strong season at Nationals in Connecticut the weekend of February 10th – 12th.
At Nationals, the team started with a Friday match vs Delbarton, the eventual division finalist. Prep players then took the courts for their next match on Saturday morning vs. the Rye School in the consolation draw. This was a barn burner from start to finish with three of the matches going to the fifth game. St Joe’s showed some incredible grit with a 4- 3 win and an appearance in the semifinals. The team’s semifinal match was on Sunday morning against Westport school from Connecticut. In competitive, close contest, Westport took the match with a 5- 2 win. Overall, the weekend was a success with a ton of squash played. The team also had the opportunity to watch the Division 1 semi’s at Westminster’s courts. A great camaraderie was shared by all the players here and throughout another fine season.
