Principal's Office

Andrew T. Cavacos

Andrew T. Cavacos is the 26th Principal of St. Joseph’s Prep, beginning his tenure in July 2019.

Mr. Cavacos arrives at the Prep after spending nearly his entire teaching career at the all-boys McQuaid Jesuit High School in Rochester, NY. He started at McQuaid in the classroom, working as a Math Teacher. He kept his hand in teaching while also assuming the position of Dean of Students in 1999. In 2011, Cavacos moved into the position of Assistant Principal for Academics, overseeing the academic instruction for McQuaid’s 820 students as well as supervision of the 70 teachers. Most recently, Mr. Cavacos was a key organizer of McQuaid’s academic course review and slate of offerings, seeking to balance the school’s classical curriculum with the need to enhance the students’ 21st Century skills.

Cavacos’ roots in Jesuit education began as a young man when he attended Loyola Blakefield High School and Fordham University.
